In this shop, Mr. Lai provided model aficionados with modeling labor and technique. At the time, all the modeling parts were imported, resulting in elevated price and difficult sourcing. Some of the parts were even not appropriate for modeling use. Seizing the opportunity, Mr. Lai established THUNDER TIGER MODEL COMPANY in 1979. Thunder Tiger started with producing internal combustion engines. Then she went on to develop and produce various lines of model cars and airplanes. The ARF (Almost Ready to Fly) and ARTR (Almost Ready to Run) SUPER COMBO series revolutionized the modeling industry. Because of its innovative design, it shortened the time of the model assembling, and reduced the break down rate as well. The SUPER COMBO series were very well received by consumers and replacing the KIT cars and airplanes soon, and became the main stream of the consumer market. |
